Tony and Laura Burgess

We had dinner with Laura's mom tonight and while there we enjoyed a good dinner which our travel weary bodies needed and received good service at a restaurant we had not been too in ages, Shoney's. They have a proper, old school salad bar. It was a very good selection of veggies and more. On the loud speaker music system they were playing some music from our time. Tunes from Air Supply, Spandau Ballet, Paul Young, Billy Joel and Michael Jackson. It was a good time and we were glad we went for a "blast from the past".

Tonight we enjoyed left over Pizza Soup which is always good. Laura prepared it for a covered dish lunch at her work. Fortunately leftovers were plenty and she brought them home for dinner. We think leftovers are great. Its like cooking once and eating twice.

We watched "Caprica" the prequel to the TV series "Battlestar Galactica". In this series it deals with the Graystones who's patriarch Daniel who in effect develops the Cylons featured in Battlestar Galactica. The Adama's are the other family who Joseph is the father of the future Admiral William Adama. We have just started watching the series but it is edgy and very dark. We hope this will be as good as BSG.

We were at Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN, Tony's alma mater while visiting his dad, mom and sister while camping in nearby Sweetwater, TN. We were up there for Father's Day. On campus we went to the Equestrian Center to check out the horses stabled there. Here are a few pics.

Also it was a celebration at the County Courthouse of the American Flag this past week in celebration of Flag Day. We also went to a popular Italian eatery called the Patio.

We are looking forward to the next Chronicles of Narnia movie "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" Its going to be a great follow up to the other movies of the series of stories written by C.S. Lewis. Its going to be good. Laura is very excited about it.

Tonight we have had a good dinner of Asian grilled chicken with peanut noodles. We watched a great movie  "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"  This movie is based on a book by the same name from C.S. Lewis one of our favorite authors. It picks up from the prior story "The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe".

Oh Deer 06/17/2010

We have deer that come around every now and again. This is not a new thing they come out of the woods to find food and just to explore the space that was meant for them. Its cool to see them roaming around. Our dog Cody resembles a deer when he walks around the house too.

We have been at Riverbend 2010 this week and have enjoyed it very much. From Sheryl Crow to Allison Krauss and Union Station to Darius Rucker we have seen some great talent. There is another show to this place called Ross' Landing the home of Riverbend. Its called the Passage which is water attraction featuring Cherokee iconography and a water fall flowing down to the river. Its a popular place to cool off. We have been wanting to go there for awhile and Riverbend gave us the chance to do it. Here are a few pictures to see what we mean. Also included are some Riverbend crowd shots.

Each year in our hometown the Riverbend Festival comes to the banks of the Tennessee River in Downtown, Chattanooga. We have been the fist couple of nights and have enjoyed Sheryl Crow and Allison Krauss with Union Station. Its been very hot and humid but we have been good troopers. We have a tradition of spending it with Laura's brother Phil and wife Arlene. Here a few pictures to capture the flavour of the 9 day event.

WTVC Newschannel 9 weather presenter Allison Chinchar was at Laura's work today sharing weather information and instruction with the students there. It looks like a fun time was had by all. She has been on the air in Chattanooga for awhile now.
