Tony and Laura Burgess

Thanks to the fine folks at Office Max you can put your face on the body of a dancing elf. Laura went through the process to digitally transform the three of us into elves that will cheerfully dance and have magical fun on your computer screen. Click on the image above to see the results.

At 10:55 last night we were watching Dancing With The Stars preparing to hear who would win this seasons title. Mel B. and Helio Castroneves were awaiting to hear from Tom Bergeron who would be the champion. We were waiting too and then the power goes out. Our night would be spent without power therefore no heat and no lights. We did make it through though. Consider this to be what camping is like except we did not have to pitch a tent and the bed was way better.

Laura found this a great time to read by flash light and Tony rested and watched the candles dance. We did have hot water though. Electricity is a convenience we take for granted and we do miss it when its not there. But there are people out there sleeping without a roof over their heads and we need to be thankful for what we have.

This is the opening titles from one of our favorite shows called "Torchwood". It's a spin-off from the legendary British Sci-Fi series "Doctor Who". The show features a team responsible for dealing with supernatural and paranormal activity in Cardiff, UK. It's very well done and has a "Men in Black" feel to it.

The day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Its identity is known as "Black Friday" and this morning we were out shopping for Christmas. We went to Best Buy, Lifeway Christian Stores, AT&T Wireless, The Fashion Bug and out to have breakfast at the Southern Restaurant in Red Bank. We didn't dare go to Wal Mart or the malls. Good deals were out there and gone before we knew it. Its sad that this day of the year has made the holiday seem so commercialized. Fortunately we know the meaning of this holiday is in the birth of Jesus Christ. The real reason for this season.

This is a slideshow of Thanksgiving activities at Tony's aunt and uncles home. Terry and Bobby Brown have hosted the Webb/Burgess/Brown/Frye celebration for the last 11 years. We enjoy being with family and this year was really good. We prepared our traditional squash casserole and napa cabbage salad (courtesy of a recipe from our friend Lisa). Also this year Laura prepared a banana pudding for the first time which was traditionally prepared by Tony's grandmother. Now the Christmas rush can begin.

This video courtsey of Saturday Night Live is one of our new Thanksgiving media treasures. Its Vincent Price's Thanksgiving Special. This features the comic genius of Bill Hader, Kristin Wiig, Eva Longoria, Horatio Sanz, Fred Armisen and Darrell Hammond with a brief cameo by Amy Pohler. This skit is very funny and is funny on all sorts of weird levels.

He finds himself in trouble when he revives a deceased woman who turns out to be his childhood love.

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving. The forgotten holiday between halloween and Christmas. This uniquely American holiday celebrates all that we have been given and is a historical event is meant to unite all Americans. We owe the Pilgrims and the Native Americans gratitude for helping us remember all the gifts we have been given. Laura is right about how much Thanksgiving seems to be forgotten. We cannot forget this holiday that helps us thank God for all our blessings. Now lets pass the turkey and dressing and the pumpkin pie! To find out more visit Wikipedia for more info.
