Preparing for the Holidays 10/31/2010
![]() Today we started our prep for the holidays. You can never be to early in getting ready. We have evaluated last year trying to smooth out the wrinkles to make this year even better. The holidays can be stressful if you don't have a plan. Money is tighter than ever and you can't afford not to make the most of your money and time. More to come as we head into the holidays. Add Comment Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern, Spooky! 10/29/2010
![]() Tonight we are headed up Lookout Mountain to experience the Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern. We are killing two birds with one stone here, going to Ruby Falls and a haunted place at the same time. We are looking forward this adventure. Someone is going to get freaked out...you guess who it is. ![]() When a couple gets married life can do a lot to separate them emotionally and physically. Its a good thing to remember to reconnect and rekindle what brought you together in the first place. We went to Chick-Fil-A tonight to do just that. Mondays in October have been about bringing couples together in what they have called "Date Nights" in cooperation with First Things First a local organization dedicated to strengthening families. We had spicy chicken sandwiches and waffle fries with lemonade and a brownie al-a-mode. This gave us time to take inventory of our relationship and to spend quality time together. We had a great time and enjoyed some great food. The English Rose - A Proper British Tea Room 10/11/2010
On Saturday, October 9, 2010 we visited the English Rose tea room on the southside of Chattanooga. It was a awesome experience where we had traditional English dishes. Tony had the bangers and mash while Laura had the steak and mushroom pie with side salad. The PG Tips tea was quite good. We had a great time and a great meal. The Monster Mash - Jib Jab! 10/07/2010
We did one of those Monster Mash sendables with a Halloween theme. Laura, Tony, Cody and Tony's mom and dad were all in the mix. Great job honey. Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab! Uptown Big Band a musical treat 09/28/2010
![]() Uptown Big Band Last night we went to see the Uptown Big Band a local ensemble of musicians, really good musicians. They performed many great tunes from Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Cole Porter and Glenn Miller. Rev. David Kammerdiener our music minister at White Oak UMC is keyboard player in this group. We had a great time and a great meal at Northshore Grille. Our friends George and Terry joined us for some great fellowship too. Chattanooga has a good night life and it was good to experience it too. RIP Nooga-Q...We hope not. 09/23/2010
![]() Nooga-Q in Chattanooga We have a favorite barbecue restaurant which is not far from our house. Nooga-Q offers some of the best cue in town. We are sad that it burned today and it looks like a total loss. This place served up some great pulled pork and had the best smoky sauce. One of our favorite Wednesday night meals was their Idaho Baker which was a barbecue stuffed baked potato with sour cream, butter, cheese. We will miss Nooga-Q and pray for its return sometime. Some Bites from Date Night 09/18/2010
Our date night last night consisted of going to Mom's Italian Villa on the Southside of Chattanooga for some great chicken parmesan and some manicotti. This little restaurant has been a Chattanooga fixture for years. Then on the North Shore we had doughnuts from Chattanooga's Julie Darling's doughnuts. Tony had the pancakes and bacon doughnut while Laura had the key lime doughnut. We shared a blueberry doughnut. Between this we had a great time at the CS Lewis Society meeting. It was a great night. ![]() Today we are headed downtown Chattanooga to watch the Mocs play Eastern Kentucky Colonels in a good FCS football game. The Mocs are playing well but not finishing well this season. Defense is the weakest link in their game play. One special thing about today is we are taking our pastor. Rev. Amy Cook graduated from Eastern Kentucky so this should be interesting. We are tailgating with Mocs Club folks. We are going to have fun this evening and we won't even have to leave town to do it. September 11, 2001 - We will never forget 09/10/2010
![]() Nine years ago America came under attack by terrorists in New York City, Washington DC and Shanksville, PA. These men hijacked airplanes and used them as weapons by bringing down the World Trade Center, destroying the Pentagon and another plane was headed for DC but a group of heroes brought that plane down in a field saving lives. We were in Murfreesboro at the time and we couldn't see much TV and what had happened didn't resonate with us until we went home to see footage and live reports that went 24 hours a day for several days. We remember this day in our history by praying for our nation and those whose lives were lost that day. We also pray for our service men and women and first responders who are constantly vigilant keeping us safe. |
